We awarded £5,250 to “3E’s Table Tennis” summer holiday provision at Edmonton Leisure Centre for 25 young people per session to be coached and learn how to play table tennis.

We awarded £2,800 for “Adil’s Film” This group is made up of young people who have all overcome or are dealing with mental health issues. They intend to show the struggles and the day to day issues they face. They will develop skills, build self esteem and confidence and make a positive contribution.

We awarded £20,000 for “adiZone” A joint YOFE project with Broxbourne YOF and other partners, placed over the Holmesdale Tunnel. As part of the build up to the 2012 Olympics, these fantastic free to use, outdoor gyms that incorporate basketball, football, climbing wall, tennis wall and a freestyle area for dance, aerobics, martial arts etc. This will be installed in 2010.

We awarded £950 for “Alfie” Two time British kickboxing champion Alfie
has been involved in the sport for five years. Over this time he has
won 29 trophies, coaches young children part time and is also studying
for his A levels. Alfie applied for sponsorship to be able to compete
in the European Championships.

We awarded £10,000 to “Bass Station” YOFE funded the mobile DJ and MC Van in the last round. This Van travels around Estates in Enfield for two hour workshops. Young people can learn to MC, record a song, engage with professionals – all focussed on positive lyrics and great outcomes. In the last three months the crew have visited over 20 Estates – doing 80 workshops. We have provided further funding to keep the project delivering great outreach work

We have supported the provision of Boxing and Keep Fit Classes at no cost for young people in a deprived area of Enfield.

We awarded £2,890 to “Boxing Boys” Ben wanted to help out the volunteer
run Police Boxing Club he has attended for six years. He knew more
young people would like to attend but were unable to pay the subs. YOFE
has paid subs for 25 yp to attend for one year free of charge and for 3
coaches to attend training courses, 3 CRB checks and 3 first aiders to
be qualified.

Musical instruments / sporting equipment and staffing costs for a project in Edmonton, developed by a young people two years ago and supported by YOFE since inception, - this began with 8 young people and now averages 20 – 25 young people every Saturday. The hours this provision is open have now doubled to 8.

We awarded £3,000 to “Chi Woo” lives at home with his Mum. He is 19 years old and his complex needs will keep him in care always. The YOFE Panel have paid for sensory equipment to help Chi Woo stay engaged and calm. The funding is also paying for a “Communication Board “ to enable him to express himself more easily.

We awarded £2,000 to the “Craig Park Book Club” Young people applying for money for to buy their first sets of club books. These books were decided on through discussion and recommendation. These young people are improving their reading skills in a social and supportive environment. The YOFE Panel also gave an extra £1,000 for audio books.

We awarded £1,937 for “Croyland Lighting” Young people put on a very successful dance in 2008 and had over 100 teenagers enjoy a night of dressing up and having fun. This was so successful they would like to do this event more often. YOFE has taken away the cost of hiring the electrical equipment by providing funds to purchase it.

YOFE has funded dance tutors in street dance, contemporary jazz, popping and break dance.

Deb Tempest Kitchen and Common Room |
We awarded £5,000 to “Deb Tempest Kitchen and Common Room.” The “Breakfast Club” asked for refurbishment of the tiny space that the group of residents have been using for some time. Facilities are “make do” and the space was never intended to be a kitchen. The “common area” is a hallway – this is where the young people met with friends, family and staff. YOFE funds will help transform an unused computer room into a social area.

Eagles Boxing Edmonton. YOFE has funded one year of free boxing / fitness training lessons for 25 young people twice a week at Eagles Boxing Club. These classes are aimed at engaging young people who were hanging around at the Edmonton Green Bus Station.

A young lady in Edmonton, recognising a need for young people to have a platform for their talents - putting together a movie that “represents the lives of youth in our local community.” While at the same time offering them a unique opportunity to become involved in the whole production side as well.

We awarded £6,342 to “Edmonton Youth Music Project” This group of young people have already established a music project at the Hanlon Centre. It has proved to be so popular they are expanding it into Edmonton Green. The group are also doing partnership working with another YOFE funded group to engage as many young people as possible in positive activities.

£7,384.00 that is providing quality camping equipment in a central “equipment library” that is able to be accessed by all of Enfield's young people who are participating in their Duke of Edinburgh Award.

We awarded £2,170 for “Duke of Ed Expedition Equipment “ Old, cumbersome equipment was making participation in this award difficult. Some members were unable to afford to purchase their own. This new lightweight equipment will include tents, stoves, lanterns and rucksacks. This will ensure the Explorer Unit will be able to accommodate those that are unable to afford to buy these camping necessities.

A group of young people from a voluntary youth group received funds to train 12 young people in first aid.

Young people who attend the Air Cadet Training Corps in Edmonton successfully applying for funds to establish an “ aircraft operations room”. This will be able to be usd by all Air Training Cadets in Enfield and will assist young people in achieving their BTECS in Aviation studies.

Young people from across Enfield with complex special needs, and their siblings, coming together in a range of activities throughout the summer that include trampolining, judo, athletics, horse riding, tennis and assorted outdoor pursuits at Herts Young Mariners Base.

Hairdressing Training Facility |
Refurbishing and outfitting a training facility where young people are furthering their skills and gaining acreditation / apprenticeships in hairdressing.

We awarded £2,000 for “Hanlon Centre Rent” YOFE have continued to support the Hanlon Centre. By providing rent money we can keep it accessible to the many young people who attend to use the gym, IT equipment and job search facilities. “Hassani” (16) says “It helps me get away from the streets and gang violence. When I’m bored I can just come and get myself fitter instead of wandering in the street and getting in trouble with the Police.”

We awarded £10,000 to “Hanlon Centre Weights” This group caters to 70 young people a week in a highly deprived area in Edmonton. The Centre is mostly run by volunteers and the young people have very little equipment or activities to do at the Centre. YOFE have supported this group with £10,000 that will provide weight training equipment as well as pay for a dedicated trainer to assist the young people in reaching their goals.

Young people in assisted housing learning about budgeting, nutrition and basics of cooking. This project offered the young people a chance to learn together and to engage with each other socially after the cooking lesson with a group meal. (Funded for 1 year of food.)

We awarded £3,750 to “Henry’s Football Team – keep us warm and dry” Young footballers training hard in their new team (run by volunteers) requesting a warm weatherproof jacket for each team member, with a club logo on it to help them feel like a team. Most members were unable to afford to buy their own.

We awarded £1,100 to “Kat” is a young carer who looks after her father and her teenage brother. Her one outlet is playing football and coaching her younger brothers team. Katie applied for assistance to pay for driving lessons so that she would be able to take her housebound father to watch her and her brother play football, and to enable her to further her prospects by getting to Watford to play football herself.

Providing a "Lap Top Library" for young people in assisted housing in Edmonton – ensuring these young people have equal access to internet and study opportunities as their peers in different home circumstances.

YOFE has supported this project by supplying capital funding of £16,800.00 to refurbish a disused Doctors surgery in Edmonton. This is a base for the youth / drug advisors and supplies an area for young people to come visit for anything from a coffee / chat / advice/ to relaxation classes etc.

£2,870 “Motor Project” A group of young people who gather regularly at
a Youth Centre in Ponders End applied for funds to buy safety equipment
(to protect themselves when they race their Mini) and to update the
tools they have, enabling more young people to work on the cars.

£7,000 of musical instruments for a group of young people in Edmonton. This group have secured a space to meet up for free and tuition from community members, with the intention of coming together through learning music, offering a safe space to learn and enjoy.

people from Edmonton have trained long and hard with very little help
to become UK champions. Holly applied for money to buy special support
shoes for all of the team as many of them were unable to afford them.
YOFE also gave money towards a trip overseas for them to represent
Enfield.

We have funded many 'Practical things' to keep clubs and groups up and running - such as storage containers for equipment, mini bus repairs to a safe standard, emission conversion on a bus to ensure young people with special needs have access to attend social events, disabled toilets have been built to enable yp of every ability the same opportunities.

We awarded £717 to “Radiomarathon Drama Club” (young people with learning disabilities) This group is run by volunteers and most of their drama equipment (karaoke machine, video camera, costumes and props) is borrowed. The group would like to buy their own and to put on a show at the end of the year, to show their friends and family what they have achieved.

3 young people who have been putting on a showcase in Edmonton of young up and coming talent for the last three years. Acts include singing, dance, MC ing , poetry and anything that is a combination of the above – as long as it has a positive theme.

We awarded £9,850 to “Rescue Boat Enfield” These 27 young people are
part of a club who provide safe participation in water sports, for over
3,500 yp (scouts / vulnerable children / sea cadets and young people
with disabilities.) YOFE was pleased to offer them a whole new rescue
boat on top of the repairs to the older boat they had originally asked
for.

We awarded £20,000 “Scout Roof” The Edmonton Scout Headquarters roof was in dire need of repair, having been patched up many time, it now needed a complete renovation. The building was used by many young people for Scouts, Ballet, Amateur Dramatics and Martial Arts. The work was able to be carried out and the activities now run in a safer environment.

We awarded £1,774 “Swimming Circuit” Edmonton Phoenix Swimming Club. 40 young people wanted to do land based training to increase their performance in the pool. Earlier attempts had been poorly attended due to lack of equipment to keep them interested and music to keep them motivated. YOFE provided funding to overcome this.

Supporting the establishing of a base for this group allowing them somewhere to come together and rehearse for productions that confront knife crime & other issues that affect young people.

We awarded £6,250 to “Through My Eyes” is a film project by a group of young people who want to promote mental health awareness from a young persons perspective. From living with parents with mental health issues to bullying and the effect that it has on behaviour. 30 young people will participate in the project, culminating in a ceremony at the end.

We awarded £4,750 for a “Tractor” Capital funding has purchased a tractor to pull a special grass cutting mower to “cut out “ a new cricket pitch. This will increase participation as more young people will be able to play and will allow more space for training.

We awarded £2,000 to “Transport Help” YOFE has offered money to supply transport assistance (be it Taxi / mini bus / private car ) to assist young special needs youth club members to attend their club on a Friday evening with as little disruption as possible.

We awarded £6,475 to “West Lea Bikes” YOFE have funded 2 specialized
push bikes for young people with complex needs. This will enable them
to have the same fun outdoor experiences and learning of bike safety
rules that their able bodied peers enjoy. The high cost of these bikes
prohibit most individuals from having one.

West Lea school in Edmonton received funding for the purchase and installation of a portable building. This is to provide drama classes for complex and special needs young people from Enfield in after school provision. Previous to YOFE support the young people had nowhere to meet and rehearse. Staffing is provided voluntarily.

Young Carers Cinema Passes |
We awarded £4,000 for “Young Carers” Cinema passes. Funding to provide some “time out” for young people who are unable to join in with many other activities because of responsibilities at home.

We supported a group of Young Carers so they could have a night out with other young people.

YOFE has funded toys, books and refreshments to support the establishing of a drop in time for young parents in Edmonton who need advice and a chance to interact socially with other young people who understand the challenges of being a young parent.

We awarded £2,870 for “Young Parents IT” This was to set up an IT project in a small housing project for homeless young women with children. Some were wanting to maintain their education while others were looking to develop their skills to further their employment potential.
